#northeasthour A Marketing Phenomenon

Published 16/04/2013

Our in house social media expert Helen Armstrong has been getting some impressive media coverage for her networking event on Twitter #northeasthour. Here are some tips on how to get the most from this marketing oportunity:-

You will need a Twitter account and to be logged in at the arranged times (Monday 8-9pm and Tuesday 2-3pm). Watch your Twitter timeline for tweets by accounts you follow which include the hashtag #Northeasthour. It will help if you have followed the official @NorthEastHour Twitter account also Helen's own @helensarmstrong account.

Both of those accounts retweet as many tweets by local business as possible during #Northeasthour, so you will see tweets by accounts you don’t already follow that way. Try to follow as many of those new accounts as possible, and retweet their tweets to your own followers.

You will also want to tweet about your own business or cause, and you are welcome to do this as many times as you want during #Northeasthour – just remember to include the hashtag so that other #Northeasthour people see your tweets, follow you and retweet you.

If you support other businesses with retweets and by following them, you will find you receive the same service and ultimately, you will have the ability to form real relationships with other businesses and people who use #Northeasthour.

Watch out for more tips on getting the most from Twitter and #Northeasthour tweeted by @NorthEastHour throughout the week.

If you would like a RT to a dedicated North East audience outside of #Northeasthour then just mention @NorthEastHour in your tweet!

That’s pretty much it! If you’re confident with Twitter, try following the hashtag in Tweetdeck so you can see every single #Northeasthour tweet – and see just how busy it gets!

It can be a little confusing at first, but give it a go, and if you get stuck, just tweet @helensarmstrong or @NorthEastHour for help. If you really struggle to get going on Twitter then get in touch and see what we can do to establish your business on Twitter.

Promote your business to a dedicated local audience, get new customers, find the services you need, and above all, Keep It Local!
